Youth Swim

Swimming at the YMCA

The YMCA has a long history of teaching swim lessons. In fact, the Y is credited for being first to develop a group swim instruction program in 1906. We have come a long way since that first group lesson. Our swim curriculum is extensively research-based and enables swimmers to advance more confidently and quickly through the stages.

Stages A and B: Infant and Toddler

6 mos. – 3 yrs.
Getting comfortable in the water with a parent or guardian.

Stages 1-3:

Pre-School – School Age
Confidence building in the water, instilling good water safety habits, basic swim skills, and personal growth.

Stages 4-6:

Pre-School – School Age
Confidence building in deep water as well as learning the six basic strokes.

Making A Splash With YMCA Swim Lessons

The YMCA of Sandusky County wants to ensure youth in our community know how to be safe in and around water. Through All Kids Swim, children ages 5-12 years develop personal water safety and basic swimming skills like: swim-float-swim, sequencing front glide, roll, back float, roll, front glide and exit water—jump, push turn and grab.
